Korean War Veterans Benefits - Every year the United States and South Korea observe a national Korean War Veterans Armistice Day on July 27. The day was started to commemorate and recognize the peace treaty that marked the end of the long war. The Korean War is an important chapter in American history with an estimated 50,000 American soldiers killed, over 100,000 wounded, and thousands more captured as prisoners of war. On National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day we are encouraged to take a moment to reflect on the service and sacrifice of American soldiers during this conflict.

The Korean War lasted for three years - from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953. Combat service members faced unique threats and experiences that set them apart from their predecessors in previous generations. National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day gives us an opportunity to remember and honor the service of these individuals. After being colonized by Japan, the southern part of the Korean Peninsula was liberated shortly after World War II. Backed by the Soviet Union, communist North Korea invaded democratic South Korea in 1950. As a result of these events, the United States sent troops to South Korea to truly hold their ground and protect the country's democratic interests. Three years later, an armistice was signed and the two Koreas have been divided ever since.

The battle cost the United States more than 36,000 killed and more than 103,000 service members wounded in action. These substances are responsible for certain diseases and cancer after exposure. In fact, the nature of this exposure can be so severe that it can be passed down to future generations.

National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day or Korean Veterans Day is celebrated on July 27 every year. The day honors the sacrifices of Korean War veterans and their families.
